Frankston City Council is seeking to commission two original sculptures at two sites, offshore at the base of Oliver’s Hill Frankston foreshore and near the entrance of Sweetwater Creek and Liddesdale Ave, Frankston South.
Under the guidance of Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Coorporation the sculptures will depict the story of Bait Banger and his wife Eliza. Bait Banger was an influential Bunurong man at the time of European colonialization.
The sculptures shall aspire to be both a major statement by the artist and a celebration of:
Frankston’s First Nation’s perspectives
A spirit of optimism, which is both bold and uplifting
A significant cultural statement within the history of Australian sculpture.
Council is seeking submissions from suitably experienced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists currently based in Australia with preference given to Victorian-based artists
