Expressions of interest are now invited for the 2023 York Botanic Art Prize. The prize was created to showcase artistic engagement with Western Australia’s incredible native flora, and to draw attention to the issues and challenges that face its protection and conservation.
The York Botanic Art Prize has a prize pool of $12,000 and artists aged 18+ years, living both within and outside Australia, whose work challenges traditional notions and conventions of botanical art, in a sense ‘botanical art in the expanded field’, are encouraged to enter.
Entry will be accepted from artists working in any media, but must respond specifically to the theme of native Western Australian flora and reference the WA species the entry will feature.
Closing date for entry is Monday 17th July, 2023.
Finalists will be selected for the York Botanic Art exhibition which will open and the winner announced on Sunday 26th November. The exhibition period runs through to 31st January 2024.
Judges for the 2023 York Botanic Art Prize include: Dr Laetita Wilson, Professor Fiona Stanley and Ron Bradfield Jnr.
