We are delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural PhotoAccess Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize, this award aims to celebrate the most innovative and ground-breaking contemporary photography within Australia and internationally. The competition encourages entries that speak to contemporary culture and seek to challenge conventional ideas surrounding the photographic medium.
The Photographic Prize is generously sponsored this year by Lucent Imaging and Prinstant. Lucent Imaging has graciously funded our First Prize with a sum of $2000, and Prinstant has kindly supported our Second Prize with a contribution of $1000. We deeply appreciate their commitment to fostering creativity in photography.
In addition to the first and second-prize winners, a People’s Choice award of $500 will be given based on public voting. This provides multiple opportunities for recognition and celebration of outstanding photographic work.
Participants are allowed a maximum of three entries per person, offering ample opportunity to submit their finest work. A submission fee of $35 per image will be used to support the administration of the competition, contribute to the prize pool, and help further the cause of promoting and celebrating innovative contemporary photography.
All entries will be displayed in the Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize Exhibition from 24 August – 14 October, and must be provided in digital and physical form. Please check the important dates below.
We kindly request that all submissions feature images produced in 2022 or 2023, as we aim to capture the essence of contemporary photography in our ever-evolving world. All submitted works must not exceed 60 cm (23.6 inches) on the longest side in their final, printed or displayed format
