GLAAS Inc (Glass, Light, Art and Architecture Synergies) presents a solo exhibition of new work by Melbourne-based glass artist and designer, Miles Johnson.
Miles Johnson: Journey into Roundism explores the rounded form in glass and consists of installations, wall-mounted pieces and stand-alone works.
At the core of Miles’ practice is the centuries-old artistic practice of blown glass which commences with a small sphere that is heated and blown into a rounded form from which other shapes are produced. Johnson extends, and explores, this process by manipulating the rounded form and in so doing tests the boundaries of glass as a creative medium.
Miles Johnson: Journey into Roundism runs until 24 June and is included in the 2023 NGV Melbourne Design Week Program from 18 to 28 May.
Miles Johnson will be presenting an artist talk at the Australian Centre for Glass Design on Saturday 20 May, 2pm.
