Programmed by Jessica Cottis, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s 2023 season celebrates composers with a close connection or a special affinity to colour, from the vivid orchestrations of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov to the lyrical, lushly sweeping writing of Alexander Scriabin.
These programs are also shaped by the colours and contours of the natural world, from the living green of Sibelius’ northern forests to the dizzying vastness of red desert on our own continent.
Featuring world premieres from Connor D’Netto, Miriama Young, Aaron Wyatt, Louisa Trewartha and Nardi Simpson.
Season highlights include Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs with Eleanor Lyons, Sibelius’ Seventh Symphony, and world premieres from Connor D’Netto, Miriama Young, Aaron Wyatt, Louisa Trewartha and Nardi Simpson.
