Program Producer - First Nations
About the Role
The Program Producer, First Nations is responsible for establishing the Powerhouse First Nations public programs portfolio. This role is responsible for developing and delivering innovative programs, festivals, residencies, and partnerships that represent, engage, and celebrate national and international First Nations communities and culture across all sites of the Powerhouse. This is part of the First Nations Directorate and collaborates closely with the Programs team.
Establishing the Powerhouse’s First Nations Directorate in 2021 marked a historic moment in the museum’s 140-year history, establishing a self-determined direction for Indigenous leadership, representation and engagement. The First Nations Directorate is responsible for setting the nature and direction of all Indigenous activities and is committed to embedding Indigenous methodologies across all areas of museum operations. The Directorate is Indigenous-led and promotes First Nations aspirations for excellence within the sector.
About Powerhouse
Powerhouse intersects the arts, design, science, and technology and is critical in engaging communities with industry and practice. Established in 1881, the museum includes the Powerhouse Ultimo, Powerhouse Castle Hill, and Sydney Observatory and will expand to include the museum’s new flagship – Powerhouse Parramatta. The Museum is the custodian of over half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of Australia’s finest and most diverse collections.
