Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT)
Digital Imaging Officer (Rock Art)
Do you want to join our collections team and be our new Digital Imaging Officer for our Rock Art Digitisation Project?
The Rock Art Archive, a cornerstone of MAGNT’s collections, was developed over a period of thirty years from 1973 through the extensive fieldwork by pioneering rock art researcher Dr George Chaloupka OAM FAHA (1932-2011) along with other rock art researchers and archaeologists.
This position will work closely with MAGNT’s Collections Manager (Rock Art), Assistant Registrar, Acquisitions and Loans and Digital Imaging Officer (MAGNT Collection) to deliver the Rock Art Digitisation Project. The aim of the Project is to develop strategies and set out achievable objectives to improve the care and long-term preservation of the transparencies within the Rock Art Archive through digitisation. The Project will include analysis and assessment of the current collections care practice at MAGNT relating to digital conversion and storage and align future practices with national and international best practice and standards.
